Pastors and Pre-marital Counseling

For pastors: What resources do you use in premarital counseling?

Here are a few that I've found helpful:

1. PREPARE/ENRICH is an assessment tool that I use for data gathering, to understand the couple's relationship.

2. Preparing for Marriage: A Complete Guide to Help You Discover God's Plan for a Lifetime of Love by David Boehi et al has material that supplements my sessions with the couple.

3. "Marriage Lived for the Glory of God" (RealPlayer) by John Piper is a sermon that I have couples listen to.

Additional resource that I came across last week (but haven't had a chance to read through):
- Guide for Pre-Marriage Counseling.

Communication breakdown is often cited as the most common complaint in struggling marriages. Healing the brokenness in the marriage and overcoming communication breakdowns in marriage requires perseverance and a shift in attitudes but it is possible even if only one person is trying.
